I always approach a new comedy series with high hopes and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t but Sliced which started tonight on Dave hit the right note from the beginning by giving plenty of laughs without being cringe.

The soundtrack to this was just great with the likes of Dizzee Rascal adding the perfect touch to the show.

Ex EastEnders star Phil Daniels made a great guest appearance as a man who was being talked into ending it by his greedy neighbour who simply wanted his 3 bed flat.

The combined talents of Samson Kayo (Joshua) and Theo Barklem-Biggs (Ricky) made for a great series opener with lots of potential.

Situation comedy has been done many many times but this one set amongst the hustle and bustle of a low-rent, backstreet pizza parlour is certainly one to feast on.

Sliced continues tomorrow at 10 PM on Dave and catch-up is available on UKTV Play
