River City spoilers: Monday 2nd September 2019

This week in Shieldinch… Caitlin acts quickly to deliver justice when Maggie reveals all about Joe; Scarlett’s hen do makes her doubt her marriage to Dougie; and Gabriel takes a leap of faith in affairs of the heart.

At the hospital, Caitlin and Ellie anxiously wait for Maggie to regain consciousness following her fall. Meanwhile, Joe tells Ruby they need to leave Shieldinch quickly before the truth is exposed.

When Maggie awakes, Ruby pleads with her gran to keep quiet – the affair is over, there’s no need for Caitlin to ever know. However, suspecting she’s being duped and fearing her granddaughter is being manipulated by Joe, Maggie decides to reveal all to a shocked Caitlin. Crushed by the revelation and unsure what to do, Caitlin attempts to give Ruby the chance to confess, but stops short of asking her outright.

Instead, Caitlin turns her attentions to Joe, dishing out her own form of justice to make sure he never comes near her teenage daughter again.

Elsewhere, Scarlett’s hen do turns into a disappointing flop, thanks to Poppy’s straight-laced celebrations. Bernie urges Scarlett to face up to the fact she’s mismatched to Dougie and their marriage is doomed. Her words strike a chord, making Scarlett question whether her groom to be really knows her – and she makes a bold decision.

It’s Gabriel’s birthday, but it goes largely unnoticed – apart from a surprise card from estranged partner Kelly-Marie. It gets Gabriel thinking about the state of his love life, and he turns to Stevie to help him reach out to Kelly-Marie.
