Adam and Karen struggle to deal with their new living situation, not aided by the animosity from the kids. Adam makes it his mission to restore harmony, but this is shattered by the arrival of Karen’s mother, Heather. Although initially being sceptical of her motives, Karen’s surprised when Heather finally admits the reason for her visit. Jenny knows she should be enjoying life now that her cancer treatment is over, but her return to normal is proving more difficult than expected. When Barbara notices how troubled her daughter has become, she urges her to open up. But will Jenny get the help she needs?

Following Mary’s departure, David has taken on the Cafe full-time and is relishing his new role. That is until a former adversary reappears, full of glee to see David’s fall from grace. Faced with smug taunts, David finds the strength to stand up for himself, with unexpected consequences.

Meanwhile, Pete has been summoned for jury duty and throws himself into the job. But when his fellow jurors show little interest in the case, it’s up to Pete to fight for a young woman’s freedom.
