River City began back in September 2002 and despite turning 18 this year it still, I feel, doesn’t get the credit it deserves. I don’t know if this is because it airs on a regional channel, or if it is due to the fact the program doesn’t get that much publicty. Now is an oppitunity for fans old and new to relive some of the shows highlights in River City Rewind on BBC Scotland.

The following episodes will air over the coming weeks as the has a break in production due to COVID-19.

Go right back to the very first start. It’s Tommy and Eileen’s wedding day but, not for the last time, Eileen’s day is complicated when ex-husband Raymond shows up. Enjoy a host of old favourites: Gina is there to stir the pot, Malcolm messed his suit looking after his beloved pigeons and Ruth watches on as Joanne enjoys the wedding reception a bit too much.

An enraged Jo swears revenge on the dastardly Dr Marcus for the rape of her Mum. Despite Gina begging her not to do anything, she attacks Marcus and exposes his true nature to the press. Elsewhere, Kelly-Marie teases Stevie about being out all night with Scott, but he refuses to admit he is bisexual. Meanwhile, Karim is unsure whether to return to Aberdeen or Birmingham.

Depraved Doctor Marcus meets his bloody end, but not before he strikes again and attempts to assault his fiancé, Heather.

Episodes first aired on the 6th and 20th of November 2003.

Two of River City’s most iconic episodes, aired as part of the show’s fifth birthday celebrations in 2007, saw murder most foul and an unforgettable cover-up. Disgraced lawyer, Archie Buchanan (Gilly Gilchrist) made a dramatic exit after embezzelling money from his clients, cheating on his wife Gina (Libby MacArthur) and drugging his mother Liz (Eileen McCallum). In these two episodes, Liz accidentally kills her son with sisters Gina and Eileen (Deirdre Davis) stepping in to protect her by disposing of Archie’s body over a cliff edge.

Episodes first aired on the 14th and 25th September 2007.

Family tensions take a bloody turn for the worse when father and son, Lenny and Ewan Murdoch, clash with devastating consequences. Emotions run high as Murdoch men argue leading to Ewans dramatic, and unexpected, death. As Lenny attempts to make peace with Ewan, his son accidentally trips and falls from scaffolding in front of his father and step-mum, Lydia.
