BBC Radio Ulster launches Mindfulness March

As part of BBC Headroom, BBC Radio Ulster/Foyle has launched Mindful March, a mental health season running throughout the month. As part of this season, in the first of a new four-part series, Mental Health And Me, which began on Sunday 7 March, BBC Radio Ulster and BBC Sounds, Steven Rainey has a candid conversation with radio personality Cate Conway. Cate talks about life since the loss of her colleague and best friend Stephen Clements, in a frank and intimate conversation about mental health and grief.

In January 2020 Cate was devastated by the sudden death of her on-air partner and best friend Stephen Clements. She talks to Steven Rainey about the impact his death has had on her life and about coping with grief and the impact it has had on her mental health. She reveals that she is still struggling, but is determined to grow from her experience and use it to work out what she really wants from her own life. Also taking part in the series will be journalist and author Jonny McCambridge; Londonderry- born internationally renowned pianist, Ruth McGinley, and former X Factor contestant Janet Devlin from County Tyrone. Throughout the month of March, each day BBC Radio Ulster/Foyle will also broadcast ‘Take a Minute’.

The series features local voices from international footballers and community volunteers to mechanics, musicians and nature lovers, discussing their tips and tricks, favourite places and pastimes; the things which bring us all a little, or a lot of comfort and joy.
