It’s a blast from the past and not expected thats for sure. Martin Hancock is returning to the Corrie cobbles as Spider Nugent for the first time sicne leaving in 2003.
Long term fans will remember how Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) left the street for London with Emily Bishop‘s eco warrior nephew Spider in February 2003.
A seperation between the pair left Spider moving to Peru and Toyah returning to her family in 2016.
Of his decision to bring Spider back to Coronation Street, producer Iain Macleod explained: “Martin is a fabulous actor and Spider is a character with real heritage, and affection from fans. His return heralds an enthralling new story for Toyah, who will be embroiled in a mess of guilt and secrecy when Spider arrives. Will he be her saviour or the thing that ruins her life forever?”
With Toyah planning to marry Imran (Charlie De Melo) in the coming episodes and it already being confirmed that Imran is leaving. The question is will Spider be back to whisk Toyah off once again?
Spider returns to our screens in July.
