It’s a big week coming for Coronation Street and in particular for Gary Windass (Mikey North) and Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) as secrets are set to be exposed, a rooftop where ANYTHING could happen and the end of Kelly’s time in the show. We sat down with actor Mikey North who teased what is to come.

This is a massive moment that we’ve all been waiting for, and the moment that Kelly finds that Gary killed his dad, and it’s been such a long time coming. And how did you feel when you found out about this storyline?

Mikey North: This is the week that everyone wants to get involved with. I would say It’s like getting picked for the cup final, you know. So it’s a pleasure to be involved with again. Hopefully the episodes go down as well as they’ve felt to film.

It all comes to this point when Gary’s got so much to lose. He’s now Kelly’s Guardian. They’re playing happy families, but he really is like a father to Kelly, and he really cares for her. Did he really think that he could keep the secret forever?

Mikey North: No, I think it was inevitable that this was the way it would end. I’m just really happy that that it’s sort of come full circle, and ending up where we began. You know I can still remember Kelly coming into into her dad’s loan sharks office, probably four years ago. I was like a little schoolgirl, and you know, four years on. Here we are, and it sort of ends where it all started. So yeah, it’s It’s been a real pleasure.

Millie said she was fourteen and you were this person that she had her first scene with.

Mikey North: I remember coming to the Loan Shark’s office, and I think, she says, where’s my dad? I think that was the first line it feels like yesterday. But yeah, it’s, you know, four years on. Can’t believe it.

Are you relieved that the secret is out now?

Mikey North: Yeah, like I say, I think it was always going to happen. It was just a case of when and yeah, I couldn’t be more happy with how it’s turned out. This block of episodes has been the best block that I’ve ever been involved with in fifteen years. Here the collaboration of all the departments coming together to really want to make this work. And obviously we’re using new technology. It needed everyone to really pull together, and they really have The director, Dave Beecham has been incredible. It’s been such a collaborative effort for everyone. Everyone’s been involved, and I can’t speak highly enough of him, and how this block’s gone.

At one point in in this this storyline, in the dramatic week that’s to come, we see Gary find himself in the forest where he’s buried rich, and he’s been told to dig his own brave. Do you think Gary feels fear?

Mikey North: I think he’s always tried to be one step ahead, you know he’s got himself out of out of many, many a sticky situation down the years, I was saying like a cat with, you know, nine lives. This is getting pretty drastic now, and I think the crooks of it is that when it’s his life at stake. He sort of knew it would always end like this. But when he finds out that Kelly’s involved, you know he is willing to die for that girl.
