Yr Amgueddfa returns this Christmas to S4C for series 2

A second series of award-nominated Welsh language drama Yr Amgueddfa (The Museum) is set to enchant S4C viewers this Christmas as the action moves out of Cardiff and to West Wales – a land steeped in magic and mystery.

Nia Roberts returns as Della – she has had a secondment from her role as director of a museum in Cardiff after the events of the first series. She now runs a museum in a rural town and is living with her partner Caleb (Steffan Cennydd) in a rambling old house which is totally different from her luxurious house in Cardiff.

But Yr Amgueddfa Series 2 is very much rooted in the dangerous modern world of art crime, a theme that is continued from the first series – and involves the famous Mold Gold Cape – a treasure on display at the British Museum.

The series has been filmed in several well-known locations in West Wales including the National Botanic Garden of Wales in Llanarthne.

The entire series will be released as a box set on 26 December following the broadcast of the first episode.

Bydd ail gyfres o’r ddrama lwyddiannus Yr Amgueddfa yn siŵr o swyno gwylwyr S4C dros y Nadolig wrth i’r cyffro symud allan o’r Brifddinas i Orllewin Cymru – ardal llawn hud a lledrith!

Yn y gyfres gyntaf cafodd y prif gymeriad Della Howells (Nia Roberts), cyfarwyddwr cyffredinol yr Amgueddfa yng Nghaerdydd, ei thynnu mewn i fyd tywyll a pheryglus trosedd celf.

Yn yr ail gyfres, mae Nia Roberts yn ôl fel Della ac mae hi wedi cael secondiad i amgueddfa mewn tref wledig yng ngorllewin Cymru ac yn byw gyda’i chariad Caleb (Steffan Cennydd) mewn hen dŷ traddodiadol sy’n hollol wahanol i’r tŷ teuluol moethus yng Nghaerdydd.

Trosedd celf oedd wrth galon cyfres gyntaf Yr Amgueddfa – ac mae’r elfen yna o drosedd celf dal yna o dan y wyneb.

Mae’r gyfres wedi cael ei ffilmio mewn sawl lleoliad eiconig yn Sir Gâr sef Amgueddfa Sir Gâr yn Abergwili, Gerddi Botaneg Cymru yn Llanarthne, ac yn cyffwrdd a chwedl Llyn y Fan Fach – sef lleoliad stori’r fenyw yn y llyn a Meddygon Myddfai.

Bydd bocs set y gyfres gyntaf ar gael unwaith i bennod gyntaf Yr Amgueddfa ddarlledu ar 26 Rhagfyr.
