Known for playing Pam and Mick Shipman in Gavin & Stacey, Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb take a trip down memory lane on a 210-mile road trip from Billericay in Essex to Barry Island in South Wales.
Alison and Larry are at the start of their B-road bimble from Billericay to Barry. They head to Epping Forest where they meet up with Billericay Boy Russell Tovey, or ‘Budgie’ as he’s known to the Gavin and Stacey faithful. With a bit of gentle persuasion Russell and Larry get Alison to join them on a unique looking electric bike and Russell reveals why Gavin is from Billericay.
Later, the town’s mayor arranges a special tree planting ceremony, and lifelong bird enthusiast Alison gets up close and personal with hawks, kestrels and one of her favourites, a barn owl.
Review: It’s a welcome return for Mick, or should we say Michael, and Pam, or maybe Pamela. Shipman is back in another cracking UKTV original series. While we eagerly await the return of the hit series Gavin and Stacey, as well as an answer to THAT cliffhanger, it’s delightful to see Alison and Larry back on our screens. From the start, these two bring us 45 minutes of pure joy. This whole series has put a massive grin on my face as I witnessed the delightful banter they share and the sheer amount of fun they have together. Even if you aren’t a fan of Gavin and Stacey these 2 on their roadtrip is a load of fun and absolutely worth a watch. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
