Mike prepares a perfect proposal for Jane but is again thwarted by her distraction when she learns a developer is interested in buying Erinsborough High for redevelopment. Losing heart, he throws the ring away, only to uncross his wires with Jane, retrieve the ring and finally pull off a proposal that Jane can say “yes, yes, yes!!” to. They agree she should rush home to deal with the new threat she’s learned of re: the school, and he will stay in the UK and retrace his grandfather’s footsteps riding a vintage motorbike to Scotland.
Dex finally goads JJ into telling him what’s going on, and we learn JJ is searching for his birth father.
JJ reads his mum’s friend’s journal, which reveals that maybe JJ wasn’t conceived using donor sperm from the USA (as JJ always believed), but rather from sperm donated by Philippa’s friend. JJ believes that friend may be Andrew Rodwell, which is why he encouraged his mums to rent Jane’s house over the school holidays. Dex is left reeling about what this means for their family.
Reece continues to pressure Paul, and he attempts to charm her by inviting her to dinner. Their conversation becomes fraught when Paul brings up her father, and Paul believes he’s finally found a chink in her armor.
Aware that Haz is online dating, Sadie tries to subtly deter Mackenzie from pursuing him, but Mackenzie is now determined to get out there again. After an almost-crisis with Trevor, Mackenzie and Haz share a long night talking and Mackenzie is more infatuated than ever – only to discover Haz saying goodbye to a hook-up the following morning.
