The storyline surrounding the hard-hitting social issue of Conversion Therapy reaches a culminating point in today’s episode when John Paul McQueen realises Carter’s true intentions have been to practise gay conversion therapy on him and, horror-struck, he confronts the headteacher. Stunned and hurt that homosexuality could be seen as a sin, John Paul voices how someone’s sexuality isn’t a choice.
Elsewhere in the village we see Nadira confiding in Peri about the pain Juliet caused her when she outed her to her family. Ste fights to make his marriage work and for his husband to accept his children, and in a powerful scene we see Sally share the history behind the solidarity flag and what it means not just to her as a trans woman but also to the LGBTQ+ community.
The episode finishes on a high as those within it unite in the village.
