Months after being teased at joining the show, we finally get to reveal who Rita Simons is playing in Hollyoaks. Welcome to Marie, who is the mother of long-term character Joel Dexter.
Tracksuit clad Marie will be sneaking into the Chester village this year after leaving prison, with her first order of business being to steal Mercedes’ red dress from the McQueen washing line.
The Channel 4 soap confirm that she is set to cause a stir, being the mother of established Hollyoaks character, Joel Dexter, played by Rory Douglas Speed.
Talking about her upcoming appearance, Rita said “Marie’s got a lot of ties here, so I think there’s going to be quite a lot of trouble between quite a few characters, and you will just have to keep watching to see…”
