Emmerdale is set for explosive scenes next week as a dinner party for the vets descends into chaos. Tom King, played by James Chase, is at the centre of the drama, with his abuse over Belle King (Eden Taylor-Draper) threatening to erupt.

Speaking ahead of the episode, Chase revealed the special episode will see “two storylines from different relationships come to an intense peak.”

Viewers already know Tom has been manipulating Belle, even resorting to dognapping and attacking Vinny. But at the dinner party, “the anxiety between them could be cut with a knife,” says Chase.

Tom’s motives remain unclear, but Chase hints at “an obsession” and “other things going on.”

The dinner itself seems innocent enough, with Tom inviting his colleagues to “rectify mistakes and keep things friendly.”

However, “no one has any idea” of the darkness Tom is hiding. Chase describes him as “a master of performance” who can “convey something very different to get people on his side.”

As the guests leave, the episode takes a terrifying turn, with viewers finally seeing “the dark reality of Belle’s life with Tom.”

Chase promises “explosive scenes” that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats. He also hints at the toll filming such intense scenes can take, revealing he unwinds with “gaming or watching some brilliant TV” after a long day.

“The dinner party episode puts a sharp lens on the relationships of the gathered people and gives the audience a unique view into their lives,” said Producer Laura Shaw. “Stepping away from the usual Emmerdale format, it offers our viewers the chance to see how some relationships can very publicly unravel and fall apart.”
