Corrie fans are in for a rollercoaster ride as Bernie Winter’s past comes crashing back to haunt her! Actress Jane Hazlegrove spills the tea on a shocking secret Bernie’s been hiding for decades – a child she gave up for adoption.
The drama unfolds when Bernie’s ex, Denny, returns to Weatherfield. His arrival dredges up painful memories, forcing Bernie to confront the truth about her long-lost son.
Hazlegrove reveals, “Seeing Denny again is terrifying for Bernie because he brings up all kinds of things she’s buried for a long, long time.”
Adding to the chaos, Bernie’s facing Paul’s terminal illness. “She’s got a lot to work out in her own head,” says Hazlegrove. “She’s not happy about Denny being around, but she’s got to let it happen.”

But Denny’s not the only reason Bernie’s world is crumbling. The guilt over giving up her child is eating away at her. “She has had years of knowing herself that she hasn’t been a great mum,” confesses Hazlegrove.
Desperate for answers, Bernie turns to Dev and confesses her heartbreaking secret. “She needs a pair of ears,” explains Hazlegrove. “She thought she was going to be able to cope, but with the twins and no support, she made a difficult decision.”
Coronation Street continues tomorrow at 8pm on ITV1 as Gemma is left puzzled by Bernie’s behaviour and Bethany comes face to face again with Nathan.
