Emmerdale fans are in for a shocking twist! As Nicky fights for his life in hospital, a dark secret is revealed. Ethan, praised by his family for a new job, is wracked with guilt.
“Charles being Charles, he’s going to think that she’s going to run away again,” says actor Kevin Mathurin, who plays the vicar in Emmerdale. With Manpreet set to walk down the aisle once more, Charles is haunted by their past. Can they overcome their issues?
And there’s more drama ahead as Charles discovers son Ethan’s role in the recent crash. “Charles knows his son really well and he knows something isn’t right,” says Kevin. “He coaxes it out of him and eventually finds out what’s really going on.”

Torn between faith and family, Charles faces a heartbreaking decision. “There’s always that battle between Charles the vicar and Charles the man and father,” says Kevin. “He wants to do right by his son but righteously, to do the right thing is own up and face the consequences.”
Will the village support Charles’s decision? “Charles, as the parishioner of the village, wants to do the right thing and support them,” says Kevin. But with Ethan facing prison, how will the Dingles react? “Surely there’s no coming back from this,” says Kevin.
With Emmerdale set to explore the fallout of the crash, Kevin promises explosive drama. “It’s very difficult,” he says. “It’s that thin line of supporting his family and finding out the truth of the situation.”

Will Charles’s faith see him through? “Luckily he’s got his faith to rely on while some people don’t have that,” says Kevin. But with a darkness lurking beneath the surface, Charles could be set to snap. “I think he has to be pushed right into the corner and once he’s in that corner, forget the Bible, man!”
How will the village react? “I think as per usual, the village turns against him,” says Kevin. “They’ll judge the family on that.”
