Sarah Platt is at her wit’s end as evil Nathan Curtis continues to torment Bethany in Coronation Street. “He’s vile, he doesn’t care about anything or anyone!” fumed Sarah. “He’s basically saying he’ll do what he wants, he’s not going to leave Weatherfield!”

Devastated after her attempt to bribe Nathan fails, Sarah’s desperation mounts. “She sees how he’s affecting Bethany,” says actress Tina O’Brien. “She doesn’t want her to always be looking over her shoulder.”

In a shocking twist, Sarah makes a reckless decision – to plant evidence on Nathan linking him to Lauren’s disappearance. “She’s never done anything like this before,” admits O’Brien. “She’s putting that to the back of her head because she’s determined to protect her daughter.”

However, Sarah’s plan backfires spectacularly when she’s caught red-handed by Detective Kit Green. “She’s really scared,” reveals O’Brien. “She realises there is a possibility she could be charged.”

O’Brien relishes this complex storyline. “It’s this want and need to find Lauren, to know if she’s alive or dead and to know if it’s Nathan who’s done this to her.”

The actress also highlights the importance of revisiting Bethany’s harrowing past. “Nathan is still out there… he’s not going to have changed his spots.”

“Just because there was a court case doesn’t mean it will ever all be over in Bethany’s heart,” she says. “Sarah feels an enormous amount of guilt and wants to put things right however she can.”
