Abi Webster’s life is once again in turmoil on Coronation Street. Sally Carman, who plays the beloved character, opens up about the challenges Abi faces with the recent resurfacing of Corey memories and deep fake videos.

“It’s really rocked her,” Carman reveals. “She thought everything had settled down, she was coming to terms with Seb’s death and looking to the future. But then this comes along and just shakes the ground.”

Abi has fought hard to change her life, but these recent events could push her back to her old ways. “There will be some moments where she goes into autopilot and old behaviours resurface,” Carman hints. “In these moments, she comes out fighting because they’re such big things for her to face losing now.”

Fans of Abi’s impetuous side won’t be disappointed. “I love the scenes where I just get to call the shots, cause mayhem, storm into buildings, set fire to things—it’s just brilliant,” Carman enthuses. “She’s a law unto herself and I love it when we get to see a little bit of that lawlessness again.”

However, Abi’s relationship with Kevin could be at risk. “How she reacts to things could press some buttons in Kevin, but equally his reactions could press some buttons in her,” Carman explains. “She has to feel that he trusts her, so it will be six of one and half a dozen of the other.”

Despite the challenges, Carman loves how Abi’s past still impacts her future. “A lot of her reactions she actually doesn’t think are particularly bad because she’s fighting the good cause in her head,” she says. “I hope she ‘yeah buts’ forever.”

Reflecting on her time at Corrie, Carman shares her joy in playing such a multifaceted character. “I love just doing something you’d never normally get to do,” she says. “I also love playing her when she’s funny. I enjoy the laughing and the craziness—I get the best of both worlds.”

Landing the role of Abi was a dream come true for Carman, who auditioned for Coronation Street countless times. “Abi was definitely the right part. It was perfect timing and the character couldn’t be better for me,” she says.

For Carman, the best part of working at Corrie is the camaraderie among the women on set. “The women on the cast, the women on the crew, all these brilliant women just seem to gravitate to this building,” she shares. “Making lifelong friendships and getting to work with people who you’d be happy to be stuck on a desert island with makes it such a brilliant place. Also meeting my husband too, that was alright.”

Next week, Kevin’s nocturnal activities raise Abi’s suspicions, but he brushes it off as stress. He then enlists Max to hack a stolen mobile phone. When Tyrone finds an email with a video of Kevin breaking into Stefan’s office, Kevin insists it’s another deep fake. Bethany realizes Kevin’s involvement and warns him not to drag her family into the mess.

The drama escalates when Stefan confronts Kevin, threatening to use the incriminating footage to send him to jail. Meanwhile, Abi overhears Tyrone telling Craig about Kevin’s supposed deep fake video. The tension peaks when Kevin returns home to find Abi and Craig waiting. Will he report Stefan or succumb to the mounting pressure?
