Seeing the increasing warmth between Jane and Vic, Sam plans a special surprise for Jane: an appointment to find her wedding dress. Jane is less than enthused but realizes Sam is acting out of fear. She offers to speak to Sam, but Byron explains Sam needs to see Jane is still committed to marrying Mike and combining their families. Wanting to do right by her future stepdaughter, Jane tries on a string of dresses and is surprised to find the perfect one. But a private tear in the change rooms indicates Jane has doubts about her engagement. A feeling that only grows when she returns home to find Nicole and Vic planning to invest his money into a Stone family business that doesn’t involve her…

While Nell pours her broken heart out to Terese, a guilty JJ seeks advice on how to navigate this unwanted love triangle from Haz. Haz presents him with an easy and mature solution: tell Dex the truth about Nell and JJ’s feelings for each other. JJ takes this on board, but when he tries to come clean to Dex, he can’t do it. He commits instead to helping Dex woo Nell, giving him the manga drawing book he’d intended to give Nell himself. He watches on, brokenhearted but determined to put Dex first, as Dex’s gift earns him a hug and a maybe-date from Nell.

Sensing Harold is avoiding making an appointment for a health check, Karl pops around Harold’s studio only to find he’s surreptitiously made alternative arrangements for his healthcare… by hiring Remi as his GP. Hurt, Karl retreats to Susan and confesses that he understands why Harold would go behind his back, blaming his inaccurate dementia diagnosis months prior. But when he approaches Harold to explain he has no hard feelings, an upset Harold tries to explain himself. It’s not that he doesn’t trust Karl’s abilities as a doctor but that he doesn’t want to place the heavy burden of his healthcare on such a dear friend. Released from his shame at misdiagnosing Harold, Karl assures Harold he’ll always be there for him. On a friendship, mended and strengthened.

Left shoes and tubas are going missing at Eirini Rising. Terese and Susan assume it’s kids again, but, unaware the kids have made a copy of the key, Jane firmly shuts this line of thinking down. She suggests the theft might be an inside job, and when Susan and Terese find the door to Eirini Rising locked, they’re forced to concede this might be the case. But when Susan’s enjoying a moment alone, she’s surprised by a group of teenagers carrying stolen instruments. Panicking, the kids bolt, knocking Susan over in the process. She falls hard on her wrist and is frightened when she realizes she isn’t strong enough to stand up on her own. Curled on the ground, Susan cries out for help… but nobody comes.
