Rising star Dexter Sol Ansell joins an impressive cast in the highly-anticipated family film.
Dexter Sol Ansell continues his rise in the entertainment world with his latest role in the enchanting new movie “Robin and the Hoods.” Directed by Phil Hawkins and produced by Silver Reel, Future Arts Entertainment, and Sky Originals, this film follows the adventures of Robin and her gang, the Hoods, as they fight to save their beloved play area from being transformed into a leisure facility by a ruthless developer.
Dexter, who plays the spirited Little Dan, brings his unique charm and talent to the ensemble. Known for his early start in “Emmerdale” as Lucas Taylor and his recent role as David Saunders in Sky’s thriller series “The Midwich Cuckoos,” Dexter is no stranger to captivating audiences.
Reflecting on the casting, Hawkins shared, “I look for people to embody the role and bring something unique to it.” Dexter’s addition to the cast underscores this philosophy, as he joins Darcey Ewart, who plays the determined Robin, along with Bruno Edgington-Gibson as Glen and Gloria Ishikawa as Amaya.
Ewart, who had previously worked with Hawkins, praised the film’s story and her character, saying, “It blew me away. The minute I read it, I saw how strong-minded and strong-willed Robin was. It’s a really wholesome story with a great ending.” Her enthusiasm set the tone on set, fostering a camaraderie among the young actors, including Dexter.
Griffiths, the film’s producer, expressed delight in the chemistry between Ewart and her co-stars. “Darcey is great with the other kids. She is Robin, but she’s also a sweet kid who loves having all these new friends.”
Dexter’s burgeoning career, marked by his recent role in Netflix’s “Christmas on Mistletoe Farm” and his upcoming appearance as Young Coriolanus Snow in “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” continues to flourish with “Robin and the Hoods.” His performance as Little Dan is sure to add another memorable chapter to his growing list of credits.
