Actor Vicky McClure, known for her role as Detective Inspector Kate Fleming in Line of Duty, embarks on a journey to uncover family secrets in BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are?

In the new series of Who Do You Think You Are?, Vicky McClure delves into her family history, uncovering poignant and surprising stories. She begins with her paternal grandmother, Nonna Jean, who was given up as a child. Vicky learns that Jean’s supposed father, Thomas Compton, was in Canada when she was conceived, leading Vicky to suspect an extramarital affair by her great-grandmother, Ruby. Through letters from that time, Vicky discovers the family’s financial struggles and the possible reason Jean was given up.

Vicky also investigates her great-grandfather, Harry Millership, who died as a Japanese prisoner of war during World War II. She travels to Taiwan to trace his harrowing journey, learning about the brutal conditions he endured as forced labor in a copper mine. Vicky finds closure and pride in understanding the sacrifices and hardships faced by her ancestors.
