Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden reveals her deeply personal fight against breast cancer in a new BBC documentary, Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me. The documentary airs on Monday, 26 August, at 8pm on BBC One Wales.

Amy, who discovered a lump in her breast just before her honeymoon in 2023, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32. The devastating news turned her world upside down, but within days, she courageously agreed to let cameras document her journey through surgery, chemotherapy, and fertility treatments.

The documentary, filmed over 15 months, captures the highs and lows of Amy’s battle, including touching moments like her Strictly family finding ways to include her in the show’s final. Viewers will witness the unwavering support she received from family, friends, fellow dancers, and the public, who flooded her with messages of encouragement.

Through this raw and honest film, Amy hopes to bring light to the challenges of cancer, sharing her story in the hope that something positive can emerge from her painful experience.
