In the upcoming episode of Hollyoaks, now available on Channel 4 streaming, viewers will witness a harrowing turn of events for Suzanne Ashworth as her world is shattered by devastating revelations about her family. Actress Suzanne Hall, who plays Suzanne, and Noah Holdsworth, who portrays Oscar Osborne, sat down to discuss the intense storyline.

Suzanne Ashworth should be on cloud nine. With her daughter Frankie off to her dream dance school and son JJ signing with Manchester United, things seem to be falling into place. “She’s very proud of her twins,” says Suzanne Hall, “and she’s starting to think that finally, everything seems to be going well.” But the happiness is short-lived.

The joy turns to horror when Darren drops a bombshell on Suzanne, leaving her reeling. “This was extremely difficult for Suzanne. She’s totally devastated by this revelation… and lashes out, believing that Frankie is lying again,” Hall reveals. “Suzanne is torn, ripped apart at this moment and desperately needs to escape this living nightmare, this hell that had been thrown at her.”

As the truth unfolds, Suzanne’s initial disbelief gives way to crushing guilt. “She’s devastated, completely broken, and feels she’s let her family down by not tackling things when the twins were younger,” Suzanne shares. “Maybe early intervention could have changed the outcome. She was not thinking; it was a fight-or-flight situation, a knee-jerk reaction thinking it could all just go away! It’s something that doesn’t happen to your family, why mine? Totally abhorrent and devastating.”

Meanwhile, Oscar Osborne finds himself caught in the middle of this family tragedy. Noah Holdsworth, who plays the young Oscar, opens up about his character’s fears. “Oscar feels scared as JJ has hit Frankie, and he has not seen that before,” Noah says. “He doesn’t understand why JJ is hurting her in this way.”

The bond between Oscar and Frankie becomes crucial as they communicate in secret using British Sign Language. “JJ does not use sign language, so Frankie and Oscar can communicate secretly,” Holdsworth explains. “It has created a special bond between Oscar and Frankie, and he feels safe with her.”

Oscar’s heightened awareness, due to his deafness, allows him to notice subtle clues others might miss. “He uses his eyes for clues and notices things, especially body language,” Holdsworth says, hinting at how Oscar comes close to uncovering the truth before anyone else.

What Lies Ahead for the Osbornes?

As the storyline progresses, the impact on the Osborne family will be profound. Noah hints at the tension ahead, “I don’t know what will happen, but it will have an impact on the Osborne family. I think JJ will come after Oscar, blaming him for Darren finding out.”

Both actors express how challenging yet rewarding it has been to portray such an emotional and intense storyline. “It’s been extremely emotional, a rollercoaster, and very, very upsetting and heartbreaking,” Hall reflects, while Holdsworth adds, “I have really enjoyed acting with Ryan and Izzy who play JJ and Frankie. They are always nice to me, even though in the scenes JJ can be horrible.”

With dark secrets set to surface and family bonds tested to their limits, Hollyoaks fans should brace themselves for an emotional rollercoaster as Suzanne and Oscar face the fallout.
