Emmerdale continues on ITV1 tomorrow at 7.30pm

Emmerdale fans, brace yourselves – Tina Dingle is back, and she’s set to shake up the Dales once again. Samantha Power, who steps into the iconic role, has spoken out about her nerves, excitement, and love for her fiery character. In an interview, Samantha reveals what it’s like to join the legendary Dingle family at such a monumental time.

Reflecting on Tina’s original portrayal, Samantha said: “I absolutely remember Jaqueline Pirie, who played Tina originally. She was fantastic, and I remember her character vividly. I’m so lucky to pick up where she left off!”

Samantha’s first day on set was one for the books – arriving at Zak Dingle’s funeral. “My husband said he had never seen me this nervous! My first scene was with ALL the Dingles at Zak’s graveside. That’s a lot to handle right from the start, but everyone was so kind and welcoming, especially Lisa Riley. She made me feel so safe and was so supportive from the screen test to daily on set!”

Tina is already causing drama, as her character stakes a claim to part of the Dingle household. “Tina has no filters and will do anything to get her way. She’s not one to be trusted!” laughs Samantha, clearly enjoying the character’s manipulative edge. But it’s not just the house that Tina has her eye on – it seems she’s met her match in the form of Mandy and Cain Dingle. “Tina is really good at manipulating people, especially the Dingles, so I don’t think any of them are safe.”

Despite the high drama, Samantha relished every moment on set, including some particularly muddy scenes: “There was a scene with Lisa where I was face down in a pool of mud – that was memorable! And another with an explosion, which was incredibly impressive.”

On the Emmerdale set, Power had the pleasure of reuniting with familiar faces, having worked with several cast and crew members on previous projects. She called the experience “the nicest job,” with everyone across departments being “so kind, generous, and welcoming.”

As for the future, Samantha isn’t ruling out a return for Tina, stating: “I would love the opportunity to come back and cause more mischief!”

But for now, Emmerdale fans can expect fireworks as Tina Dingle’s comeback unfolds – and Samantha is excited to watch it all play out: “It has been a very special job, and I can’t wait to see my first episode go out!”
