Coronation Street air these scenes from Sunday 27th October on ITV1 (Sunday episode airing due to no episode being shown on Friday 25th)

Nick Tilsley is set for a turbulent week on Coronation Street as he wrestles with his feelings for ex Toyah Battersby while trying to manage family drama. In a bid to ease some tension, Nick asks Toyah to spend time with Sam. While the initial interaction is awkward, Toyah manages to win Sam over, much to Nick’s delight.

“Nick’s really happy to see them getting along,” actor Ben Price reveals. “But he’s aware that it’s his responsibility as Sam’s dad to be there for him. He can’t expect anyone else to step into that motherly role.”

However, the reunion stirs up old feelings for Nick, leading to a big declaration. In a heartfelt moment, he tells Toyah that he still loves her. “Nick knows this is his one chance,” Ben explains. “He doesn’t want to regret not saying it. He and Leanne have had so many ups and downs, but this time he decides to go for it.”

Toyah, though, isn’t so sure. “She doesn’t run straight back into his arms,” says Ben. “It’s a complex situation. Nick knows she still has feelings, but there’s a lot to work out. It’s not just about them – Leanne, her sister, is still very much in the mix.”

To complicate things further, Nick offers Toyah the role of Bistro manager – a decision that could spell trouble. “Nick thinks it’s good for business,” Ben shares. “But Toyah points out how awkward it could be working alongside Leanne. Nick’s not the best at considering those things.”

Nick’s ability to compartmentalise his feelings has been a theme in recent episodes, especially with his family. “He’s always been the one to play the middle ground,” Ben reflects. “But now, he’s done with that. Leanne did things he can’t overlook, and he’s decided to speak his mind.”

Despite all the drama, Ben is relishing the more mature direction the show is taking with Nick and Leanne’s relationship. “It’s been great. Playing off that long history is what Corrie’s all about,” he says. “Jane Danson and Georgia Taylor are fantastic – no one’s holding back. We’re just playing the truth of the situation.”

Amid Nick’s romantic turmoil, his mum Gail’s latest love interest, Jesse, has also entered the fold. While some Platts are wary, Nick is taking a more relaxed approach. “Nick’s had to look after his mum for so long,” Ben explains. “He’s live and let live when it comes to her relationships. Jesse might be a clown, but Nick’s seen worse. If he makes her happy, that’s what matters.”

With tensions rising at the Bistro and in the Platt family, it’s clear that Nick’s personal and professional life is on the verge of chaos. But for Ben, the chance to reunite with the Platt clan is a highlight. “This is where Corrie shines – family drama,” he says. “We have such a good time together, and the fans love seeing the Platts in action. That’s what makes this job so special.”
