Emmerdale fans, brace yourselves as two new characters are about to stir up trouble in the village – and bring some serious baggage along with them! Ruby’s estranged father, Anthony (Nicholas Day), and her reckless daughter, Steph (Georgia Jay), are set to join the Dales.
Smart, savvy, and dangerously reckless, Steph hasn’t seen either of her parents in over a decade. With all the charm – and flaws – she could inherit, Steph is sure to make waves. Played by Giri/Haji star Georgia Jay, Steph’s got her parents’ knack for winning at all costs, and it’s clear she’s a chip off the old block.
Then there’s Anthony, portrayed by Minder and The Crown actor Nicholas Day. He might seem like a charming older gentleman now, but to Ruby, he’s far from it. After more than thirty years apart, the last person Ruby (Beth Cordingly) expected – or wanted – to see was her father. But now her mother has passed away, Ruby is left with no choice but to face a painful reunion.
Sophie Roper, Emmerdale’s producer, hinted at the tension to come, saying, “We’re delighted to welcome Nicholas and Georgia to Emmerdale as part of the Miligan family. With so much yet to discover about Ruby, the arrival of her father and daughter will unlock her past and see Ruby and Caleb tested in ways we’ve never seen before.”
Reflecting on his role, Nicholas shared his excitement, saying, “I’ve been made so welcome in the Emmerdale family. And my screen family is great to work with – the scenes just fly. No kidding – I feel blessed.” Georgia Jay also couldn’t hide her enthusiasm, adding, “The cast and crew have all been so welcoming, and I’m thrilled to see what lies ahead for Steph, given her intriguing backstory.”
Anthony and Georgia will appear on screen later this month.
