Alya is back on the Cobbles, and Sair Khan is just as thrilled as fans will be. ‘To be honest, it felt like I’d never been away,’ she said. ‘It was so nice to catch up with everyone and hear about all the storylines.’
Alya’s return isn’t what anyone expects. ‘She makes a very unexpected entrance, and where she is throws a spanner in the works straight away,’ she teased. Alya also has a new dynamic with Dee-Dee but finds herself in a ‘very compromised situation’ that challenges her.
Fans will see a new side to Alya. ‘She’s had a complete revamp. She’s changed lanes career-wise, focusing on herself rather than her family. Her look is more corporate, and she’s clearly been influenced by where she’s been working,’ explained Sair. ‘She’s taken the opportunity to be selfish, and I quite like that for her.’

On her rekindled romance with Adam, Sair said, ‘The spark reignites instantly. Alya’s playing it cool, but she knows what she wants, and it’s him. He’s got big aspirations, and she finds that a turn-on.’
But it’s not all smooth sailing. ‘When you first see Alya, it’s clear she has misgivings about her situation. Her spidey senses tell her something’s off, and she questions her morals and what she thinks she wants.’
Coronation Street airs Alya’s return from Monday 25th November on ITV1
