Written by Erin Kubicki and directed by Steve Hughes, All I Want for Christmas airs this December. It’s followed by the return of Casualty’s next series later in the month.

The BBC has unveiled first look pictures and an impressive guest cast for Casualty’s festive standalone episode, All I Want for Christmas. This format-breaking special promises to deliver high drama and heart as it airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer this December.

It’s Christmas Day in the ED, but there’s little time for celebration as the team grapples with an emergency blood shortage. Stevie (Elinor) battles to save lives on the ward, while Iain (Michael) risks his own in a desperate mission to secure vital supplies.

Joining the Casualty regulars for this emotionally charged episode are guest stars Lucy-Jo Hudson (Doctors), Tristan Sturrock (Poldark), Joseph Charles (Breathtaking), Zoe Brough (Father Brown), Katy Carmichael (Spaced), and Valerie Antwi (DI Ray).

Rebecca, BBC Drama Commissioning Editor, teased: ‘We’re so excited for viewers to see this incredible Christmas special, which genuinely made me gasp. It’s tense, thrilling, and super-charged with emotion.’

Roxanne, Executive Producer, added: ‘This life-affirming episode is something we’re incredibly proud of. With ambitious production values and outstanding performances, it’s entertaining and thought-provoking drama at its best.’

The episode will also weave in real-life stories from people impacted by UK blood donation, along with insights from the key workers who keep the country’s blood service running.

Don’t miss this ‘tense and thrilling’ special that promises to be an unforgettable Christmas treat!
