Coronation Street continues on ITV1 tonight at 8pm
There are many iconic characters that have come and gone from those famous cobbled streets over the years, from the likes of Elsie Tanner to Bet Lynch. Sadly, Christmas Day 2024 will see the end of an era for Gail Rodwell, played by the ever-brilliant Helen Worth. After 50 years on Coronation Street, Helen has decided it’s time to leave.
Coronation Street have put together a poignant video trip down memory lane for fans.
The montage was specially created for Helen’s leaving party last month and there wasn’t a dry eye in the Bistro as Helen, cast and crew enjoyed the many highlights of her 50 years in the show.
Now viewers have the chance to watch the beautifully curated 8 minute video and relive some of the classic moments that made Gail one of the most iconic characters in the show’s history.
From her arrival in Weatherfield in 1974, her many weddings, troublesome children and grandchildren, almost being murdered by Richard Hillman, fighting in the Street with arch nemesis Eileen, her complex relationship with mum Audrey and her famous monologue after Aidan’s suicide, Helen has been involved in some of the most memorabe storylines of Coronation Street’s 64 years.
