Catch Coronation Street on ITV1 at 8pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, or stream on ITVX and STV.
Monday night’s Coronation Street will air brutal scenes as Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) is brutally attacked by his brothers Matty (Harry Lowbridge) and Logan (Seamus McGoff). The shocking scenes see Mason in a critical condition after being stabbed with a zombie knife.
Producer Kate Brooks commented: ‘It’s vitally important to shine a light on this topic and show the impact knife crime has not only on the victim and their loved ones, but also the wider community. With the alarming statistics, we want to do anything we can as a show to combat this violent endemic. After watching this harrowing story unfold, if one person thinks twice about bringing a knife to a fight, then we’ve achieved our aim to raise awareness.’
The drama unfolds as Mason uncovers damning evidence linking his brothers to Becky’s murder, including a WWII helmet matched to the crime scene. After turning the evidence over to the police, Mason finds himself targeted by his brothers in a brutal revenge attack at a children’s play area. Dylan (Liam McCheyne) manages to escape, and Abi (Sally Carmen) rushes to Mason’s aid, desperately trying to stem the bleeding until paramedics arrive.

The storyline highlights the devastating impact of knife crime, with England and Wales reporting an 80% rise in such offences over the last decade. A study up to June 2024 revealed 50,973 police-recorded knife crimes, with 225 murders involving knives in the past year alone. Among these, 78 victims were under 25, and 10 were under 16.
Coronation Street worked closely with The Ben Kinsella Trust to ensure the storyline is portrayed sensitively and accurately. Patrick Green, CEO of the Trust, praised the show: ‘This impactful storyline vividly highlights the devastating consequences of knife crime. We applaud the show for their commitment to working closely with us to accurately depict this reality. We hope it encourages viewers to seek help and support before situations escalate, ultimately contributing to the prevention of knife violence.’
Luca Toolan, reflecting on the storyline, said: ‘I truly am honoured to be a part of this storyline. I’ve always enjoyed Coronation Street as a viewer, but I completely underestimated the power that it has on its audience until I was involved in the bullying storyline. Fingers crossed this storyline will be received the way we are hoping it will be and ultimately, if one person drops a knife and someone is saved, that would definitely make it all worth it.’
