The aftermath of Mason’s tragic death is one of the most powerful Coronation Street stories in years, and Dylan is at the centre of it all. Liam, who plays the troubled teen, opened up about the emotional weight of this gripping storyline.

‘Dylan is completely traumatised,’ Liam shared. ‘He’s taking a lot of the blame for what happened. Everything feels like a blur to him, but he’s convinced it’s his fault. Right now, he’s scared, abandoned, and stuck in the moment – it’s a dangerous place to be for someone in his position.’
Regret looms large for Dylan, especially after he ran away during the altercation that led to Mason’s death. ‘That day keeps replaying in his mind,’ Liam explained. ‘There’s a scene where Dylan is just sobbing in shock. He only carried the knife to feel safe – he never meant for it to be used. But now, everything feels like his fault.’
‘Dylan’s quite naive and falls for people easily,’ Liam said. ‘He knew what Mason had done in the past, but he believed Mason was changing. They were friends, or at least on their way to becoming real friends.’
The drama escalates when Sean decides to inform the police about the knife being Dylan’s. ‘Dylan feels completely betrayed,’ Liam revealed. ‘Sean promises to help him and even says he’s going to the bank to get money, but instead, he goes to the police. For Dylan, it’s like the whole world is against him – even his dad. Dylan is very self-focused. He’s convinced Sean has turned against him, and that fear of abandonment hits hard. With Violet in London and now this, Dylan feels utterly alone. Forgiveness might come, but it’ll take time.’
Things take a darker turn as Dylan is told he’ll be charged with possession of a bladed article. ‘He’s absolutely petrified,’ Liam said. ‘This is the second time he’s been arrested over a knife, but this time it’s his. Dylan wanted to feel settled in Weatherfield, but now he might lose everything.’

Struggling to cope, Dylan turns to alcohol, a moment Liam believes is significant. ‘It’s his first time drinking, and it’s pure escapism,’ he said. ‘Dylan doesn’t trust Sean fully, and he doesn’t know how to deal with what’s happened. Turning to alcohol feels like a way out, even if it’s not.’
For Liam, this storyline is more than just acting – it’s about making a difference. ‘It’s a privilege to be part of something so important,’ he said. ‘If this can stop even one person from carrying a knife, it’s done its job. We worked closely with The Ben Kinsella Trust to make sure it was authentic, and their input was invaluable.’
