Corrie’s Julia Goulding has opened up about the turmoil facing Shona and David, revealing just how much their marriage has been tested. ‘It’s been hanging by a thread, but they seem to be getting back on track. They’re just both trying to survive, and it’s easier together than apart,’ Julia shared.
After months of betrayal, Shona remains uncertain about the future. ‘I don’t think she’s even able to look that far ahead. They’re taking it day by day, week by week, trying to rebuild after everything that happened before Christmas.’
But just as things seem to settle, the Platts face another devastating blow. As Max awaits sentencing, Shona is ‘terrified’. ‘He’s been in prison before, and with her own son already inside, the thought of losing Max too is unbearable.’

If that wasn’t enough, David makes a shocking confession—he’s been acting as a getaway driver to pay off Harvey. ‘She doesn’t think anything can shock her anymore, and then this happens. It’s beyond reality, it sounds like something from a film. She’s furious—he’s putting himself and the whole family in danger.’
Then comes the moment that changes everything. Shona is horrified as a car ploughs into David and Daisy right before her eyes. ‘She sees David standing in the road, and then bam—he’s hit. It was incredible to film, the stunt team were amazing. But for Shona, it’s just complete shock. How can things get any worse? And then they do.’
As David lies bleeding out, her focus is singular. ‘All suspicion is gone—her only thought is keeping him alive. There was a lot of blood, Jack [P. Shepherd] was on the floor for days, covered in this syrupy fake blood. It was really intense.’

With the Platts in chaos, Shona is left picking up the pieces. ‘She’s the only sane one right now, which is saying something. Lily is being passed from pillar to post, they don’t even have a home, and David… well, either he’s dead or out of action. I can’t say which!’
Julia also reflected on co-star Paddy Bever’s departure as Max. ‘I was devastated. I love Paddy so much. I’d love to see him back one day, but who knows where life will take him?’
On a lighter note, Julia is thrilled to welcome her close friend Farrell to the cast as Lou. ‘We’ve known each other nearly 20 years, and she’s just perfect for Corrie. I’d love to do some scenes together—Shona and Lou are definitely from the same side of the tracks!’
But for now, Shona’s priority is clear—keeping her family together. The question is, can she?
