With David Platt at the centre of some truly jaw-dropping Coronation Street storylines over the years, Jack P. Shepherd is no stranger to unpredictability—and it seems he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Speaking about the drama, Jack teased fans, saying, “It’s more interesting, isn’t it? I like the unpredictability, definitely. I’m sure everyone does deep down. You want to be shocked and surprised, don’t you?

While he remains tight-lipped on just how deadly things will get, one thing Jack is clear on is his love for the show—and his surprising journey from a three-month contract to a quarter-century in Weatherfield.

Reflecting on his time on the cobbles, he admitted, “I was only in the show three months originally and then they just kept on sort of bringing me mum up and the agent saying, ‘Yeah, we’ll extend it.’ So yeah, 25 years is a long time, I think, for anyone.”

With his contract up at the end of the year, could this spell the end for David Platt? Jack isn’t ruling anything out but reassures fans that he’s still having fun. “I get year contracts now. I don’t get three-month ones. So I’m only ever here for like another year. It runs out this year. So I don’t know, they might not continue it, they might go with someone else, but I’m still enjoying it.”

“I think a contract [at a time], you know where you are then. They couldn’t promise a 25-year contract, could they? They don’t know what’s going to happen. So I think it works in both our favours just to do the year, but if it did end up being another 25, I don’t mind. As long as I’m still happy, that’s all that matters, doesn’t it? As long as you’re still happy.”
