Benny Hill was one of the UK’s most prolific comedians of the ’70s and ’80s and was effectively ‘cancelled’ when The Benny Hill Show was criticised for containing sexist, risqué and vulgar content which would be deemed unacceptable by today’s standards. In fact, his show has not been aired on UK TV since his death in 1992. In this no-holds-barred, exclusive documentary, we delve into the past of Benny Hill and the comedy that made his career, from his rise to the top to his eventual downfall.

Looking back through the archives, revealing unseen footage and unpacking some of his most controversial work, the film asks the younger generation to review Benny’s sketches. Do they find them funny or offensive? We also speak to those who knew him best and dive beneath the public facade…
