Mali’s still feeling wounded by the article about the board shop and neither Abigail nor Mackenzie can get through to him. He won’t even accept Abigail’s help, especially since she failed to side with him in the first place. Amidst ongoing tension between him and Abigail, Mackenzie calls him out for having a ‘bruised ego’. After stewing on this confrontation for a while, Mali finally texts Abigail and they reconcile.

Roo’s still not ready to make the call to the department, despite Eliza’s behavior growing darker and darker with every day that passes. Meanwhile, Eliza’s cooped up in her room watching the video she took of Harper giving birth. She opens up her music box and inside is Alf’s bottle of pills, along with a printed photo of Harper mid-labour. Roo finds Harper and Tane and sits them down at Salt, keen for Harper’s insight on Eliza’s failure to help Alf when he needed his medicine. Tane brings up the video Eliza took, but Harper doesn’t understand what he’s talking about. Eliza said her phone was dead, which is why she used Harper’s to call an ambulance. Cogs turn for Tane, as he asks to see Harper’s call log, which confirms his suspicions – Eliza never made the call. The thought of being made to go through labour alone, cut off from help by Eliza, makes Harper finally see that this girl is far more dangerous than she originally thought.

Under John’s somewhat sloppy supervision, Eliza waits for him to turn his back, sneaking off the moment the opportunity arises. She makes her way to the coffee cart after she can’t find Harper, her intensity affecting Marilyn. When news reaches Roo about Eliza taking off, panic is set into motion, and she races home. Eliza’s not in her room. Roo retrieves the music box and discovers the new items, including a photo of Harper in labour. But worst of all, Alf’s missing medication. Will this be enough to push Roo over the line?

Roo sits Eliza down, her items on the table on display. She asks why Eliza had the pills. Was she willing to watch Alf die? Eliza’s responds with the chilling truth, that perhaps she was. Roo’s heart breaks at the thought of losing her own dad, and while Eliza just stood there and watched? Roo asks if the stories about all the other items were even true, and Eliza emotionlessly tells her that all of it was a lie.
