Leah, Justin, Marilyn and Alf discuss the sendoff they’re planning for Irene – she’s wanting to leave sooner than expected so there’s work to be done. John’s listening in, disappointed that she’s leaving even sooner than they wanted, and it’s a shorter deadline for him to write his speech, but he’s ready to get started on it. But when Leah reports to Irene the travel window for her big trip is either three weeks or three days, Irene is resolved – one day to sort things out, one day to see the grandkids… she’s leaving in three days. Reality is hitting John hard, and Justin’s attempts to support while they load Irene’s boxes off to a storage unit are falling short – John’s losing his best mate.
Harper and Dana were already struggling to find a new place to move in, but their troubles escalate when Irene lets them know she’s out in three days, though she’s made sure they are able to stay in the house as long as it takes. Nevertheless, this is all happening fast, and they ramp up their search. During dinner with Tane, Dana clocks how well the exes are getting along, and decides to encourage Tane to re-invite Harper to live with him. It all seems logical to Tane, and Harper is persuaded, though notes it will only be temporary. Tane helps Harper and Archie move into his place, but as she watches him dancing with Archie, she still harbours doubts about this arrangement.
Dana checks in on John, bolstering him to get stuck into writing his farewell speech for Irene before heading home to an empty house where she and Irene mark a bittersweet moment. Irene’s certainly going to miss this house.
In the police station, Cash is coming down hard on Remi. He was over the limit, his bike is left on the side of the road, and despite his protest, his license is suspended for three months. Eden arrives to give Remi a ride home, much to his frustrations. She’s furious at her friend – he can’t keep going like this. Back at home, Eden’s ditched all the booze, but Remi just gets more delivered and is still drinking the next morning. Eden’s sick of watching him self-destruct and being unable to do anything. She and Cash plan to go visit some wedding venues instead, hoping Remi might pull himself together while they’re off planning the wedding.
