Are you yeah or a nay to Brussels sprouts? However you enjoy Christmas dinner, there is one debate that, much like pineapple on a pizza, opinion is split.

First up, the anti-sprout camp, sharing some truly passionate reasons for keeping them off their plates this Christmas.

Vicky Myers (Lisa Swain) is an absolute ‘nay’ on sprouts. She only eats one every Christmas because her mum insists. Her verdict? She finds them revolting and says, ‘I just don’t like them, they stink.’

Also on the team is Vinta Morgan (Ronnie). He states he would stomach some because they are good for you, but definitely not a big portion.

Sydney Martin (Betsy) has never even tried a Brussels sprout and has no plans to. She describes them as looking ‘like a mini lettuce that’s been like left to rot.’ Sydney is so anti-veg she will only have ‘one carrot and one pea on my plate just to send a picture to my mum that I’m eating veg.’

A yes to sprouts on his plate with Christmas Dinner says Vinta Morgan

It’s not all a no, as three of the stars are standing on the ‘Yes’ side of the line. They have very specific and strict rules about preparation, though!

Pauline McLynn (Maggie) is such a fan that she could happily sit and eat Brussels sprouts for her whole dinner. While growing up in Ireland, her mother boiled sprouts ‘until they were mush,’ but Pauline prefers them a bit crispier now.

Sally Carman-Duttine (Abi) gives Brussels sprouts a definite ‘yay’. Her rule is clear: ‘they must be crunchy, not soggy.’

Elle Mulvaney (Amy) likes them, but only if they are dressed up. She needs ‘something else with them, maybe some bacon bits and some nice butter or oil.’

Catch up on ITVX, and for classic visits to Corrie, these episodes air weekdays on ITV3 as well as on YouTube.
