The Corrie cast talks about who’s been naughty or nice, and what their favorite Christmas storylines are!
Who’s Getting Coal? The Naughty List
Some characters are embracing their darker side this Christmas:
Vicky Myers on Lisa: ‘Naughty. Always naughty. For so many reasons.’
Pauline McLynn on Maggie: ‘Maggie’s definitely on the naughty list. This Christmas she is going all out to upset as many people as possible in her own inimitable style!’
Sally Carman-Duttine on Abi: ‘She’s on the naughty list for eight years straight – she’s very consistent!’
Vinta Morgan on Ronnie: ‘The character (Ronnie) would probably prefer to be on the naughty list, though he could straddle both…’
James Cartwright on Theo: ‘If you spoke to Theo, nice list. If you ask the general British public, naughty list.’ James even shared a hilarious fan encounter: ‘I was in my local Sainsburys the other day where I always have a bit of banter with the women on the checkout and I was doing self-service when she said come here, come here, I can’t believe Sandra’s not in. Then she pulled an umbrella out and just spanked me on the bottom as she went, ‘That’s from Sandra. You leave Todd alone.’

Who Deserves a Present? The Nice List
A few Weatherfield residents have managed to behave themselves, mostly:
Sydney Martin on Betsy: ‘I think this year, that girl’s been through some trauma, so put her on the nice list.’ She adds, ‘I think she’s been quite well behaved given her circumstances this year. So I definitely think she deserves to be on the nice list.’
Julia Goulding on Shona: ‘Hopefully the nice list this year, actually. She’s not had a bad year.’ She notes, ‘I know she had a bit of a bad start last year, but we’re over that…’
Elle Mulvaney on Amy: ‘I think this year she’s on the nice list, although she did drug and kidnap someone but he was a rapist, so is there an alright list?’ She concludes, ‘She’s not bad enough for the naughty list but she’s done some questionable things.’

The Corrie cast on their favourite Christmas storyline.
Sydney Martin: ‘Last year when Richard Hillman come back from the dead to see Gail and he was covered in seaweed. That was pretty iconic. From watching that storyline growing up when they were launched into the canal to them being able to see him back in the show was iconic.’
Elle Mulvaney: ‘I liked it when Robert Preston got shot through the door on Christmas Day 2019. I’ll always remember that one because it was such a shock death.’
Vinta Morgan: ‘Oh, it would have to be Gail leaving last year. It was very poignant!’
Sally Carman-Duttine: ‘What I love is the moment all the decorations go up on the street when it’s like mid summer.’ She added: ‘I did love Gail’s Christmas storyline last year though – there’s too many to choose from!’
Julia Goulding: ‘Well, obviously, I’ve got shot in a box at Christmas time – so maybe not that one…’ Instead, she prefers ‘Probably one of the weddings. A lot of people get married on Christmas Day. Gail and Jesse got married last year. That was a lovely, happy one for them, although with Helen going, it was bittersweet. I prefer a jolly Christmas!’
Pauline McLynn: ‘I just remember the fun that was had in the Rovers on Christmas Day.’ She shared a personal memory: ‘Growing up in Ireland, Christmas Day was one of the two dry days in the year. Christmas Day and Good Friday.’ ‘Whereas here in England going to the pub is very much a part of Christmas Day while the dinner is cooking.’ Pauline concluded: ‘So back in the day watching everyone in the Rovers on Christmas Day was a glimpse into what was going on that we weren’t allowed to do. Now I get to be the person having fun and causing mischief in the Rovers on Christmas Day x’
