Emmerdale airs Monday, January 19th, 2026 on ITV1 at 8:00pm

The first of three episodes offering different perspectives on the dramatic events that led to Ray’s death, with each one focusing on a different suspect, beginning with Laurel.

Immediately following Celia’s murder, Ray stands over his mother’s dead body, before he collects himself, grabs his distinctive red bag and heads for the door. Meanwhile Laurel is left reeling by the truth about Ray and rushes home, refusing to listen to the man she once loved and the monster he has been revealed to be, when he arrives at Mulberry.

After refusing to listen to his pleas, Ray bursts back into Mulberry, begging Laurel to believe his traumatic past. But when Laurel refuses to accept his narrative of victimhood, Ray is left begging for his freedom. Laurel’s decision to let him walk away has deadly consequences, especially when a furious Arthur resolves to make Ray pay for his mother’s pain.

Urged by Nicola to lure Ray into a trap, Laurel must decide if she’s prepared to risk everything to ensure justice is finally served.
