Emmerdale airs at 8pm on ITV1 and continues tomorrow as Cain realises he needs to face his future head on.

In tonight’s episode of Emmerdale, Cain, played by Jeff Hordley, finally opens up to his wife, Moira, Natalie. J. Robb, about the true extent of his devastating prostate cancer diagnosis. Moira’s world falls apart to learn the cancer he said she didn’t need to worry about is actually much worse.

In consideration of the statistics, that one in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, eight Emmerdale actors have come together to encourage men to get checked.

With a short video set to be posted across Emmerdale’s socials, this evening, the cast hope to remind men that with early detection the easier prostate cancer is to treat. An early diagnosis can save your life.

The character of Cain, has aggressive, yet localised, prostate cancer and this storyline has been produced with the support of the charity, Prostate Cancer UK, who have worked closely with Emmerdale teams.

The charity has confirmed that when Cain’s prostate cancer diagnosis episode aired they received a spike in visits to their website and risk checking facility.

Chiara De Biase, Interim Fundraising and Health Strategy Director at Prostate Cancer UK, said:

“Cain Dingle’s prostate cancer journey has resonated deeply with viewers across the UK, and it has inspired thousands more men to complete our 30-second risk checker and start lifesaving conversations about the disease.

“By making this video, the brilliant Emmerdale cast are building on that impact and helping us reach the men who are most at risk of prostate cancer, ensuring more men are diagnosed in time for a cure. We’re grateful to the whole Emmerdale team for their continued support, and we look forward to seeing how future episodes raise more awareness of the most common cancer in the UK.”
