Paranormal Activity ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Incredible. I would see again but this is a one and done as the shocks won’t be as impactful the second time of watching.
I don’t mind admitting straight up that horror isn’t my genre, I’ve never understood this desire to be spooked – and I haven’t seen any of the films. I’ve seen Wicked twice at the Apollo Theatre and that is it for live stage performances.

When my friend suggested we go to see Paranormal Activity, I thought it would be a good evening out, but as for the show, I went very much not knowing the plot and what to expect. It turned out to be one of the best things I have ever sat and watched – honestly, my jaw was on the floor just HOW they pulled off some of the trickery! It’s not like a movie that can be cut and edited; the quality of this production is amazing, and to have some of the effects happen right in front of you is nothing but outstanding.
Melissa James as Lou, wow a performance, and host to some of the biggest shock moments in this two and a half hours thriller. I won’t spoil exactly how or what for those that read this before seeing it, but let’s put it this way – once seen, never forgotten.

Alongside Melissa is Patrick Heusinger as Jimmy, who spends half the performance running around. A feature very much of the show is the ‘open dollhouse’ style set that allows you to see everything at once and follow the characters from one room to the next and up and down the stairs (a lot). Also, prepare for a fair few blackout moments as scenes progress from one story element to the next.
It begins with a slow burn that very soon ramps up, and when Jimmy’s mother, played by the genuinely terrifying Pippa Winslow, turns up, the shit hits the fan. Each character in this story delivers a shocking moment that puts you on the edge of your seat and leaves you wanting more at the end.
