A difficult week for Kevin begins when the doctors examines Jack’s feet and asserts he has ischaemia, the consultant breaks the news that it is spreading and tell a stunned Kevin they need to amputate Jack’s foot. Meanwhile Kevin is angry at Sophie for wanting to sue the NHS, she apologises to Rana.

Later Kevin gives the go ahead for the operation, which goes well. A devastated Sophie overhears Kevin telling gina he wishes he’d never left Jack in Sophie’s care and blames himself for what happened.

As Jack comes round from the operation, fighting back tears Kevin tries to explain to him that they have had to amputate his foot. Meanwhile Sophie confides in Kate that Kevin blames her for Jack’s illness.

Kevin arrives home from the hospital emotionally drained and breaks down on seeing Jack’s football boots.
