Tomos, who lives with his family in Pontypridd has played the role of Ricky Jones since joining the soap back in 2005 aged just six.

He’s now 19 and with a major storyline ahead and a very exciting cliffhanger.

Tomos explains: “Ricky goes to Sioned’s party in the flat above the village shop. Sioned has been taking drugs and Ricky accidentally takes some of these drugs thinking that they are headache tablets.

“Under the influence of the drugs he climbs up to the roof of the flat. Mathew tries to get him down but Ricky falls and lands in the middle of Cwmderi High Street.”

Long time viewers of Pobol y Cwm will know Tomos has had to deal with several intense storylines over the years – for example when his pregnant girlfriend Courtney died in a car crash. How does he prepare for such a tragic and heart-breaking storyline?

“I think the Courtney storyline was when I started properly acting for the first time,” said Tomos. “When I was younger, I remember my mum saying to me to imagine how I, as a person, would feel in a similar situation to my character Ricky and this was a help.

Of course, Tomos won’t reveal whether Ricky survives – his fate will be revealed in Pobol y Cwm over the next few weeks.

Pobol y Cwm airs Monday, Wednesday & Friday 8.00; Tuesday & Thursday 7.30; S4C
