River City spoilers: Monday 30th December 2019

This week in Shieldinch…on Hogmanay, Kim faces a heartbreaking decision when Isobel falls ill; an enraged Caitlin tries to stop Ruby getting closer to Joe, and Stevie’s excitement about seeing the New Year in with Poppy is scuppered.

Kim’s Hogmanay celebrations are derailed when her mum, Isobel, falls seriously ill. At the hospital, the doctor advises Kim her mum has pneumonia. Knowing all too well the seriousness of her mum’s health, Kim lies about Isobel’s wishes regarding her end of life care – much to the chagrin of Eve and Maggie.

Kim holds vigil by Isobel’s bedside and turns defensive when Eve confirms to the nursing staff Isobel’s request not to have life prolonging treatment. With her mum’s life hanging in the balance, Kim stays with Isobel and prepares herself for life without her mother.

Elsewhere, Caitlin’s joy at seeing Ruby back home doesn’t last long when she discovers her daughter and Joe are moving into a flat in Shieldinch.

A disgusted Caitlin tells Ruby she won’t allow it to happen and takes matters into her own hands to make sure everyone in the community knows that Joe is a paedophile. However, Joe dishes out his own brand of justice against Caitlin.

Stevie’s buzzing as he prepares to see the New year in with Poppy. However, he’s left brokenhearted when she calls to say her train is delayed and she won’t make it back in time for the bells.
