Happy 2021 Corrie fans… and here we go a brand new year.
Monday January 4th
RAY KEEPS HIS COUNCIL In the factory the residents watch the council planning meeting via live link. Debbie puts forward a strong case for the development, while Roy gives an impassioned speech to save their community. With the meeting over, the Chairperson announces that the committee has found in Ray’s favour and the development can go ahead. As Ray and Debbie congratulate each other, the residents are horrified to find letters stuck to their front doors informing them that they have two weeks to vacate their properties before the demolition boys move in.
GARY’S OUT OF IDEAS Gary lies in his police cell, knowing there’s no way out of his predicament.
EVELYN GETS THE WRONG END OF THE STICK Evelyn battles her feelings for Arthur. When she sees him approaching a bunch of flowers, she’s quick to tell him he can shove his romantic gestures. However, when she finds out from George that Arthur’s wife’s funeral took place today and the flowers were for her, she’s awash with guilt.
ELSEWHERE Michael is shocked to find Grace on the doorstep, explaining she’s just out of prison. Assuring Michael that the baby she’s carrying is his, she suggests a paternity test.
Monday January 4th
ABI VOWS TO DEFEAT RAY COME WHAT MAY Discussing the fact that their eviction letters were delivered within seconds of the committee’s decision, Sally smells a rat. Kevin’s disgusted with his sister. Nick tells Ray that he’s changed his mind and would like to accept his offer to relocate the business but Ray laughs in his face and declares he’s too late. Abi tells the residents that the only way to beat Ray is if they all pull together. Meanwhile, Ray meets up with the Chairperson of the planning committee and buys her a drink.
ARTHUR SHOCKS EVELYN WITH AN OFFER Evelyn tells Arthur how sorry she is to hear about Beryl. Arthur breaks the news that he’s moving back to Canada tomorrow and suggests that she should come with him, Evelyn’s stunned.
KELLY VOICES HER SUSPICIONS ABOUT GARY Kelly goes public with her suspicions about Kelly killing her dad.
ELSEWHERE Determined to find out once and for all if he’s the father, Michael and Grace wait their turn at the paternity clinic.
Wednesday January 6th
ABI FLOATS A NEW IDEA TO THE PROTESTORS Abi’s determined to take action and arrives on a float, using a loudhailer to spread the word about evil Ray. As she yells defamatory statements about him he makes a discreet phone call. Craig is sent to disperse the protest but, in the ensuing commotion, belligerent Abi throws the loudhailer, hitting him in the face.
GRACE CAUSES A BUMP IN THE ROAD FOR THE BAILEYS When the paternity test reveals Michael is the father of Grace’s baby he tracks her down at the hospital and attends her 20-week scan. Moved to see his unborn child, Michael pledges to support Grace, much to Aggie’s horror.
LEANNE REACHES OUT FOR HELP Struggling to sleep a dishevelled Leanne calls the doctors to request sleeping pills. But when she refuses an appointment, a concerned Dr Gaddas calls at the flat and is taken aback by the state of the place.
RAY THINKS THE RESIDENTS DOTH PROTEST TOO MUCH David’s outraged to discover No.8’s locks have been changed. Meanwhile Tim’s dismayed when Ray reveals the Hale Barns project has been put on ice indefinitely so the Metcalfes can’t move but must still vacate No.4. As Tim and Sally fear being made homeless, Abi’s sure there must be someone with the ammunition to stop Ray. Faye listens in turmoil.
MICHAEL’S CONFLICTED BY AGGIE’S SUGGESTION Faced with Aggie’s scepticism, Michael produces the paternity test result. Branding the situation a nightmare, Aggie urges Michael to apply for sole custody of his child since Grace has proved she’s not fit to be trusted.
LEANNE GETS WHAT SHE NEEDED Leanne admits to Dr Gaddas she’s been pretending to be in France. Seeing her anguish, Dr Gaddas arranges sleeping tablets and an appointment. Desperate for sleep, Leanne takes two pills and lies down on the sofa.
ELSEWHERE When Alina tells Tyrone that she can’t find an affordable flat, he politely invites her to stay at No.9. Thrilled, Alina accepts, leaving Tyrone regretting his hasty offer. Jenny asks Imran to postpone Johnny’s sentencing due to his health but Imran confirms it’s not serious enough to be granted a delay. Simon and Kelly bond over their parent trouble and arrange a date. As Johnny continues to try to shut Jenny out ahead of his sentencing she’s worried to discover his eyesight is failing. When Evelyn reveals she’s considering moving to Canada with Arthur, Tyrone’s upset. Will Evelyn choose love? Simon tries to calm a hysterical Kelly when he catches her trying to break into Gary’s shop, wanting justice for her dad.
Friday January 8th
LEANNE GIVES SIMON A SCARE As Simon goes to get changed for his date with Kelly he’s horrified to find Leanne passed out on the sofa next to a bottle of sleeping pills and calls an ambulance. An embarrassed Leanne admits she just took one pill too many and had no intention of harming herself. Simon’s horrified to learn she never went to France and has been alone in the flat for weeks.
JENNY CAN’T DELAY THE INEVITABLE Jenny’s gutted when Johnny’s nurse diagnoses an MS relapse but admits there’s no reason for him not to attend court.
ASHA FAILS TO MAKE THE GRADE Aadi and Asha open their mock GCSE results. Aadi’s thrilled to find he’s done well but Asha’s upset by her poor grades.
ELSEWHERE Michael tells Grace he intends to co-parent their child. Grace is pleased but insists it won’t work with Aggie opposing them. David’s horrified to discover his new home is on Shona’s old estate.
Friday January 8th
SIMON SAYS… EXACTLY WHAT LEANNE TELLS HIM TO As Leanne breaks down, Kelly’s upset when Simon fails to show for their date. His focus now on Leanne, Simon calls Kelly to apologise before telling Leanne that it’s time he looked after her for a change. When Nick comes asking about the ambulance Simon covers for Leanne as she continues to hide away.
WILL JOHNNY FINALLY PAY FOR HIS CRIMES? Imran asks the judge to show leniency in Johnny’s sentence, citing his genuine remorse and poor health.
DEV REALISES ASHA NEEDS HIM MORE THAN EVER Dev’s shocked by Asha’s poor grades and admits he underestimated how much she’s been struggling.
ELSEWHERE Grace vows to win Aggie over? David accuses Ray of rehousing them there out of spite but Ray darkly warns David things will get nasty if he refuses to leave No.8. Abi’s determined to prove Ray bribed the planning committee, despite her waning support.
