When I get the chance to see something I might not know about, I jump in and take full advantage. With the lack of shows and music over the last 12 months ANYTHING is a blessing and West End in Blackpool does not let you down. This 30 minutes docu-concert is uplifting, fun and a really informative.
‘West End in Blackpool’ will see Blackpool homegrown stars Jodie Prenger, Tom Lister, Kelsey-Beth Crossley, Ashley Luke Lloyd and Laura Wilson perform numbers from West End musicals alongside a West End Ensemble of performers. They will be joined by the Leading Lady and Leading Man of the West End Musical ‘Top Hat’ – Charlotte Gooch and Alan Burkitt – who will perform a captivating ‘Smooth American’ dance to ‘Cheek to Cheek’.
Jodie Prenger who rose to fame in BBC talent show ‘I’d Do Anything’ opens the show with Send in the Clowns and this had me hooked instantly, wow what an incredible voice.
It’s a joy to see and hear other sides to actors/actresses and performers I am not really used to. Tom Lister, former Emmerdale resident Carl King, for example. I am in awe of and have never heard or seen him sing before but I was blown away by by his perforamce of Frank Sinatra’s ‘All Of Me’.
Laura Wilson is known for her roles in West End musicals Fame and Shrek and has performed eight times at the Winter Gardens Blackpool. Laura performs Winner Takes It All. “I don’t wanna talk” nope, you want to sing Laura and you do it so well. I still haven’t seen a live musical but if and when I do Mamma Mia is top of my list.
There really is No Business Like Show Business – Ashley Luke Lloyd.
