Interview with guest star The Vivienne.

“I’ve got one of my leopard print dresses to thank for getting the chance to appear in Emmerdale! I woke up one morning and Lisa Riley (Mandy Dingle) was all over Lorraine as it was Mandy’s wedding and her dress was inspired by one of mine. A couple of weeks later I got a call from the show…”

“I’m an all round soap fan, Emmerdale, Corrie the lot. I don’t get the time to watch the soaps as much as I used to but I’m definitely a fan and I’ve got some very jealous friends due to the fact I am here today. Mandy Dingle is my favourite soap character; she is just an absolute style icon. I want to be Mandy Dingle when I’m older.”

“The day’s filming has been amazing. We have just shot the scene on the stage. Everyone is in really good spirits, the weather is fantastic and it’s going to be such an amazing episode. The first Pride, I mean what an honour to be part of that. It’s all really relaxed and dead good fun, what more could I want, it’s Emmerdale!

“The set is also unbelievable. I didn’t realise it was going to be this big. It’s a full sized village, it’s massive and absolutely stunning. I love the graveyard, it’s very gothic. There’s a pub there but you can’t go for a bevies, but I’m sure I will find one somewhere.”

“It’s not only an honour to be here it’s amazing to be making history by being in Emmerdale’s first Pride event making sure the LGBTQ+ community have a voice in soaps. There are already LGBTQ+ characters in soaps but bringing Pride into the people’s living rooms that may not normally attend one is brilliant. Well done Emmerdale and ITV.”

Emmerdale celebrate their first ever pride event

As the Pride flags flutter outside the village hall, Emmerdale is ready for Pride thanks to the efforts of Andrea. She excitedly tells Charles she has booked an extra special guest to open the event and he is in awe of her. Later, Ethan makes an eloquent speech that offers a message of acceptance for all on behalf of Emmerdale Pride and the church and he welcomes special guest The Vivienne to the stage. In all her glamour and glory she officially opens Emmerdale’s first Pride.

Meena’s plan backfires

Meena is furious that her plans to move in with David still haven’t come to fruition. Opportunist Meena spots the Pride collection tin, takes it and later makes it look like Jacob is the culprit.

However, her plan backfires when David then cancels their dinner plans telling her Jacob needs him. When furious Meena gets wind of Leanna’s travel plans she wonders if she might convince Jacob to go travelling too and Meena begins to plot to get Jacob out of the way.

Faith’s health worries

Faith helps Liv; her approach is unorthodox but she is determined to get Liv back on track. When Faith falls over, Chas and Cain are convinced she’s drunk. But Faith is scared, avoiding confronting her worrying symptoms. Manpreet eventually convinces reluctant Faith to undergo some tests. Terrified Faith knows something is seriously wrong. Pollard spots there is something seriously wrong but Faith avoids divulging her health worries but collapses in a shocking fashion and Pollard realises she needs medical attention. Manpreet arranges an urgent MRI for her. Once she’s alone with Pollard, Faith confesses her fear that her cancer has come back. Pollard continues to look out for Faith. Whilst unknowing Brenda confides to David and Meena she’s feeling neglected by Pollard; and prepares a romantic surprise for him. At the hospital, Faith sends Pollard away and he reluctantly leaves Faith alone to face her fate.

The next day, Pollard catches up with Faith and invites her to spend another night at the barn. Brenda is appalled to find Faith in her house wearing Pollard’s bathrobe, fuming she doesn’t want their explanations. When Chas happens upon the scene she gives her mum both barrels herself and leaves before Faith can tell her the truth.
