Alex struggles to keep his cool with a mystery caller. Oblivious Naomi and Charles are optimistic when he says he’s a job interview that day. But on the outskirts of the village as Chas is chatting to Belle she sees Alex handing cash to a mystery woman. Later, when Alex comes into the Woolpack admitting his interview went well, Belle’s left with an agonising decision whether to tell Naomi about what Alex was actually doing. Chas backs up Belle’s sighting of Alex to a disbelieving Naomi. Naomi gears up to confront Alex. When Naomi catches Alex in a lie in the beer garden about the non-existent job interview, he promises to explain everything. And soon has an innocent explanation for his meeting with the mystery woman. After introducing Clare and her son Max to Naomi, he explains he’s been helping her financially after meeting Max’s dad in prison. Back at Woodbine, after making sure everything’s good between him and Naomi, Alex makes an excuse and leaves. While Naomi feels like their relationship is more solid than ever. Alex meets up with mystery Clare again and it’s revealed his relationship with Naomi is a sham and he’s planning a robbery of the surgery.

Sarah and Chloe arrive back in the village. Meanwhile, Charity’s gutted to hear the venue for her hen do has been flooded. A visit from Moira leaves her newly responsible for both the hen party and Mack’s stag, as well as being Mack’s best man; Charity’s very sceptical of his choice. It’s awkward when Sarah and Chloe arrive and Mack wants to know what’s going on. When she reveals she’s only back for a medical appointment and will be moving permanently to Scotland soon, he’s relieved. After watching Chloe and Mack interact, Moira’s sure there’s more to this situation, but she lets it lie for now.

Paddy’s grateful when Rhona trusts he’s ready to return to work. And later in the Woolpack backroom, Paddy and Chas manage to have a civilised conversation about breaking the news to Eve that Paddy is moving out.
