Tonight’s visit to Coronation Street saw Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) learn the truth of Paul (Peter Ash)’s MND diagnosis, and his recent criminal activity.

Paul’s recent dealing with both his health and a possible prison sentence have seen him confide in friend and local solicitor Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) who has tried to make Paul see that Billy would stand by him.

Even Damon (Ciaran Griffiths) tried to offer some words of advice: ‘Stop waiting for the worst to happen. Go sky diving, hug your mum or get a pleather jacket.’

After failing to get answers from Dee-Dee about the situation Billy appeared in court and was dealt a double blow, first learning of the car theft and then the MND.

Back at the flat, and with the truth known, Paul told Billy he hadn’t wanted to worry him with the news and later when it was confirmed MND he hadn’t known how to tell him.

Concerned about the financial cost and not wanting to be a burden to anyone with what he would come to need – the funeral included, maybe Todd will give him a freebie?

Paul opened up that he doesn’t want Gemma knowing the truth and that her wedding day should be a happy one, not the day to look back on finding out he is dying.

Coronation Street continues on Monday May 29 on ITV1 at 7:30pm
