Fair City’s Carrigstown is welcoming a new family, the Mullen’s, who are already stirring up excitement in the neighborhood. The head of the family, Babs Mullen, along with her two daughters Jess and Ruby, has just moved in, and their presence is bound to create some fascinating drama.
Although Babs adores her daughters Jess (21) and Ruby (17), their relationship is far from harmonious. The trio tends to clash frequently, and sparks fly easily, especially with the sharp-witted and outspoken Babs, who never shies away from a heated argument. She believes in speaking her mind and expects the same from her daughters. Interestingly, the perception of Jess as the “easy” child is about to change dramatically, as she harbors some explosive news. On the other hand, Ruby is a restless spirit always seeking trouble.
Babs first made her assertive presence known as Carrigstown’s new traffic warden when she clashed with Dean over clamping his illegally parked van. Despite Dean’s attempts to appeal the fine, he couldn’t escape the no-nonsense Babs. Things almost escalated into a fight when he refused to serve her at Hot Pots.
Meanwhile, Paul, a resident of Carrigstown, has hired Ruby to be Ruth’s new babysitter. However, things are bound to get complicated when Ruby organizes a house party as soon as Paul leaves. The reckless behavior of Ruby and her friends, including one of them helping herself to Paul’s whiskey, shocks Ruth. Will Paul be able to catch them in the act and discover the deceit? The encounter with Ruby’s colorful family leaves Paul even more bewildered, especially when Babs dismisses his accusations without a second thought.
Later on, we’ll get to know Jess, the eldest daughter, and witness her relationship with her boyfriend Greg, who is practically a permanent fixture on their sofa, much to her mother’s annoyance. When Jess experiences fainting spells at the Community Center, she unexpectedly finds help from Paul, despite their previous confrontation. Will these dizzy spells reveal a cause for concern within the family?
The Mullen family is settling into Carrigstown and bringing a wave of captivating events with them. The residents can brace themselves for an intriguing and eventful time ahead!
