There are a lot of looks to the camera and fourth wall breaks in this new drama offering from S4C tonight, Anfamol (Unmotherly) stars Pobol y Cwm’s Bethan Ellis Owen as Ani. Ani thinks she has it all – a career, a house, and holidays. But scratch the surface, is everything as perfect as it seems?

Episode One
Ani thinks she has it all, but one comment from her Dad at her sister’s wedding forces her to make a bold life decision, she wants a baby. What follows is a search for the right man and the blessing of loved ones.

Anfamol is a TV adaptation of Rhiannon Boyle’s stage play
“It’s dark but hilarious, and Ani’s pieces to camera are guaranteed to have people cringing and laughing at the same time.”
Rhiannon Boyle
Bethan Ellis Owen, who plays the lead role in the drama, said the series “gives mums the freedom to know that it’s okay to be angry with their children or not to like them sometimes, and that doesn’t mean they don’t love them”.
“S4C has never shown a drama so full of sex and sexy Argentinian South American men who speak Welsh”.
Bethan played the same role – Ani – in the stage play which toured with Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru in late 2021.
